Turns out, it's very difficult to crank out 1000 words per week of good material with a full-time job. Since Iβm dishing out my heart on paper, I want to do each piece justice by giving myself more than a week to let ideas marinate and simmer in their complexity before serving to the world.
With that said, Iβm turning my newsletter into a weekly Amuse-bouche to hold you over until my original pieces are ready every few weeks. Hereβs a sampling of this weeks flavors:
Writing Online
I just finished a 5-week online writing course. As a recovering perfectionist, putting anything online that isn't 100% perfect is pretty terrifying. But, turns out everyone has to start somewhere and so I'm starting with self-imposed exposure therapy. Here's my embarrassingly simple website that is a work in progress π¬. *Sigh*, how do I get my themes to match?!
Meeting New Friends in the Digital Age
This past Saturday I got dimsum and boba with seven others who were in my online writing class (in a class of ~400 people from around the world). Yay to new friends! I'm excited because the last time I met a group of people I really vibed with was Burning Man 2013. Since then I've evolved, as have my interests, but my friend circle hasn't. Thanks to the internet, Iβm starting to meet people who share my niche in real life!
Am I really an introvert?
In the past few months, I've been wondering, "What if I'm not really an introvert?" My identity as an introvert has been challenged since I've started this leadership development program because I've been forced to come out from under my rock to interact with people. More than that though, I've been given conversational tools that help me to empathize with others without becoming a negativity dumpster. This new possibility has been allowing me to leave conversations feeling energized, refreshed, and dare I say... enjoying people.
I love all of your writings so much! You have me wondering if I should take a writing class! <3 You inspire me
