I’m turning over yet another new leaf! As you may have noticed, I’ve changed the name of my publication from Maymie’s Musings to The Detour Is the Way. In three bullet points, here’s why this is happening:
I really like the way having a cool-sounding publication makes me feel - like I’m-rolling-up-to-tha-party-in-a-helicopter cool or look-at-my-sweet-new-tattoo cool. And as singer Amber Mark says, “Do it for the feeling, not for the paycheck.”
Every time I reread my cool newsletter’s name, I’m reminded to look down life’s metaphorical mountain to see how far I've come. It’s almost like a divine pat on the back, which gives me the strength to keep climbing. Maybe after another big hump, I’ll get it tattooed so my grandkids can ask me about that blue blur on my arm. “Yes, it really was a blur!” I’ll spit out excitedly.
I leaned hard into my desire to explore myself through the world of writing with Maymie’s Musings. Now with a lay of the land, I know where I want to go next. More on that below. But, it seems appropriate to have my newsletter reflect these happenings on and off the page.
So what does this mean as far as this newsletter goes?
Well, I realize I’ve approached a fork in the road where I have two distinct writing paths, each with its own audience and maybe some overlap.
The first fork, which is this newsletter, has developed into my personal behind-the-scenes reflections as I write about my productivity journey and life philosophy in my quest to become a happy, healthy, and successful online business owner.
The second, which emerged from the process of writing about my process (lol, super meta, I know), will be less about me and more about how to help others like me (the dreamers, idealists, and creatives) to have more energy and focus to build their own happy, healthy, successful lives.
I didn’t have this clarity before so these two forks were initially blended as one. This is why some of you who initially subscribed to my “health blog” are probably wondering, “When are we going to talk about the health stuff?”
To those of you in that boat, I’m sorry I’ve been delaying you with my messy backstory. If after seeing this very human side of me, you are still interested in learning the root cause model of chronic pain, chronic fatigue, or most other chronic health conditions, stay tuned! I’ve got a special surprise coming up just for you!
For everyone else, come because these words tickle your marbles, but stay because you’re having fun.
Woohoo Maymie Multiverse begins!
I love your new newsletter name!
And I, too, feel so good when I look at my cool newsletter name. You captured that little high so well :)
